About Tennessee People Search

Tennessee records about people are spread among 95 county systems and several state offices. A deed, parcel card, court docket, voter record, certificate, license, or old directory may each live with a different custodian. We built Tennessee People Search to make those official routes easier to identify and to show when an online search must give way to a county counter, library, or archive.

Why This Site Exists

Tennessee does not keep all public records in one database. County Registers of Deeds hold land instruments, assessors connect parcels to owners, and local clerks keep trial and probate files. State offices maintain appellate history, vital certificates, licenses, business filings, elections resources, and archives. Tennessee People Search organizes those official tools, contact paths, and access limits while the city and county directory leads to local resources for communities that have been built.

Resources Available Here

  • Pages by record type: public records, voter registration records, and people directories
  • Local sites by place: the city and county directory links to a local people search site for every covered community in Tennessee
  • Office routes: Tennessee Vital Records, the State Library and Archives, county Registers of Deeds, court clerks, assessors, and election commissions
  • Practical search steps: ways to trace a parcel owner, read a court index, and use historical directory collections
  • Access boundaries: what the Tennessee Public Records Act opens, what other laws protect, and where to request an offline record

Limits of Our Role

Tennessee People Search is a privately operated reference site. It is not part of a Tennessee agency, county or city office, court, or records custodian. Those limits mean:

  • We do not retrieve, certify, amend, or remove official records
  • We cannot verify a person's current Tennessee residence
  • We do not control information in government files or outside databases
  • We cannot provide legal advice about a record or dispute
  • We cannot promise that every portal, fee, hour, or office procedure is unchanged

Only the responsible custodian can confirm, certify, or correct a record. No information found here may support credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
